A new short documentary, The Life She Deserves: Medical Marijuana in the U.S. has premiered in Hollywood. Made by the Brookings Institution it tells the story of Jennifer Collins and the journey that she’s been on to find a treatment to control her chronic epilepsy.
It is a very intimate portrait of Jennifer and her family’s struggle with her condition - how they discovered the beneficial properties of medical marijuana - but also how they now live with the stigma and legal uncertainty that surrounds the use of medical cannabis.
On BBC Radio 5 Live's Up All Night, with Rhod Sharp, I spoke to Jennifer, her mother Beth and the film's director, George Burroughs.
